Frequently Asked Questions

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a safe and natural form of healthcare. It focuses on the body’s ability to heal itself. When misalignments occur in the spine, nerve interference can occur, resulting in pain and/or dysfunction. By identifying these misalignments and correcting them, the body can properly relay nerve messages between the brain and the musculoskeletal system. The result is optimum function and overall better health.

What is a spinal adjustment?

Once a misalignment is detected by your Chiropractor, he or she can put a gentle, specific force through the spine to correct it. There are many different techniques available so that your experience is comfortable and custom-made for you and your condition.

Can chiropractic help my condition?

Chiropractors are Neuro-musculo-skeletal specialists, meaning that they specialize in the treatment of bone, muscle, and nerve conditions. Chiropractic has been shown to help with headaches, neck pain, fatigue, rotator cuff syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, mid-back pain, stress, scoliosis, low back pain, herniated/bulging discs, osteoarthritis, degenerated disc disease, and hip/leg conditions to name a few.

Do adjustments hurt?

No. Most patients feel relief from their problems within a short period of time. Different, specific techniques are available to ensure a comfortable and positive visit.

What is the "popping" sound?

When certain techniques are used to improve mobility in your spine, sometimes an “audible” or “click” is heard. All joints are surrounded by a capsule filled with fluid and air. When the joint is stretched (with the adjustment), the gas comes out of the solution, sometimes making a popping sound.

What is a typical office visit like?

A typical visit can include but is not limited to the following: an adjustment, stretching/specific muscle relaxation techniques, traction, balance and proprioception activities, and a consultation on changes to your specific condition. Each office visit is designed to improve your current state and resolve your problem.

I feel fine, do I need a chiropractor?

For many people going to the chiropractor is a wellness priority. Staying healthy is easier than getting healthy after a problem or condition arises. By getting your spine checked regularly you can be sure you are functioning your best and can prevent problems before they start. Misalignments of the spine may have no symptoms at all but can lead to problems down the road, so seeing your Chiropractor for regular checkups can benefit everyone.

Who benefits from chiropractic?

Everyone can benefit from chiropractic. There is no age too young or too old to try chiropractic. Since chiropractic is a natural, holistic approach that is not invasive and does not involve medication, it is safe for everyone. Your Chiropractor will perform an in-depth examination to ensure that you are a candidate for chiropractic care.
